So I only just found out about the sexist Dr. Pepper ad. Here is my only thought:

thewordfountain:

For the men who have commented saying “Shut up! Don’t you think I’m tired of Clorox and other cleaning supply commercials being targeted at only women? Just get over it! Sexism is everywhere! There’s no need to get offended over this commercial being targeted at men because the reverse happens all the time.” - don’t you think that I’m just as offended by those cleaning supply commercials as well? Just because those commercials are targeted at my gender, doesn’t mean I’m okay with it. Those commercials send a message that only the women do/should clean. I know that it’s not true, and I disagree completely with that message. But to get cleaning commercials to target anywhere outside of that demographic, you and your other male friends should stop “getting over it” and fucking say something!

That’s exactly what myself, other women, and male feminists have been saying in protest to this Dr. Pepper commercial. Don’t knock us down for doing what you can’t.

I'm the girl who posted the thing you reblogged about fetuses not being people. Thank you for understanding what I meant. (I'm still new to discussing my opinions on controversial subjects on the internet!) I do understand that fetuses are composed of human components, but they're not human in the way that I'm human. I guess I should have said "person" in the original post instead, that might have been more clear. (Love the blog, btw, always glad to have more feminism on my dash!)

Hehe thanks honey. I trip up all the time and end up learning by fucking up. It also helps that I am in grad school for Women’s Studies so, its lotsa practice!

Hey! Big fan of your blog! I am sort of at a cross roads of my own in terms of my own activism in day to day life ( I am a feminist, and a very strong supporter of human rights and animal welfare). I want to speak out about what I believe in but don't want to antagonize/alienate others or tell them unfairly how to live their own lives. My boyfriend and family have suggested I express my beliefs through art/comics( I'm an animator/illustrator). Would this be a good idea?

First of all, that is very badass. I wish I could animate/illustrate!

Secondly, I believe that every person has their own brand of feminism and activism. If it satisfies your intrinsic need to change the world, or get the message out there, or just help resolve your feelings of injustice in the world. I think that activism can even be just living your life as you want others to live it, kind of setting an example I guess?

Bottom line is that if it feels good to you, then do it!

loved your response to the asherfreak rant on feminism. very well articulated. it is so darn frustrating that "feminism" is still used synonymously with misandy in this day and age. a girl i was discussing things with the other day claimed to be a feminist, while in the same conversation making derogatory comments about people with different skin colors (my response is in my blog if you are interested), and it is amazing to me how uneducated people are on the subject. awareness is the #1 goal.=)

Yup! And your picture totally makes the icing on the cake. Its like *say awesome shit* then *do one of those click gun things to be like, I’m right there with you* hehe

OK so let's clarify:

feistyfeminist:

sageoflogic:

You ARE a Liberal if you: Espouse liberal views, are not racist, are not sexist, do not discriminate based on sexual orientation, do not discriminate against non-cis-people, do not support legislation hurting or overtly supporting one religion over another, etc.

You are NOT: Not a racist, not sexist, not discriminatory JUST for CALLING yourself a “Liberal”. You have ACTUALLY live up to the title. Saying you’re a “Liberal” does not make you the epitome of tolerance and untouchable if you say or do something decidedly NOT Liberal or tolerant. If you’re actually a Liberal by definition you won’t be doing any of that shit in the first place.

Also: How fucking SAD is it that “equality” has to be a fucking LIBERAL stance?! It should be a MODERATE stance! Equality should be the fucking DEFAULT!
